Club Brugge Starlet Keen To Return To Inter Milan: “Chivu Important, I Was Born There & I Want To Come Back”

Club Brugge midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic has reiterated his love for Inter Milan, confirming his ambition to return to San Siro.

Speaking to Het Belang Van Limburg via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old also highlighted Cristian Chivu’s role in his development.

However, after being unable to secure regular first-team football at San Siro, he left the club to join Luzern on loan in 2024.

Following an impressive loan spell in the Swiss Super League, he moved to Club Brugge for a reported fee of €9.5 million.

Aware of Stankovic’s potential, Inter have included a €23 million buyback clause.

Indeed, the runaway Serie A leaders have secured the chance to bring Dejan Stankovic’s son back home at the end of the season.

Moreover, they’re more than willing to take it after Stankovic’s superb maiden campaign at the Jan Breydel Stadium.

With seven goals and five assists from 40 matches, he has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in European football.

Furthermore, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have reportedly set their sights on the Serbian ace.

However, Stankovic is dreaming of returning to his old stomping ground.

Stankovic’s personality has stood out this season. Asked to comment on that, he replied: “My previous coach, Cristian Chivu at Inter, encouraged that side of me.

“He used to say: ‘No one on the pitch will ask for your ID to see how old you are. Age doesn’t matter, personality does.’ So despite my young age, I dare to say things as they are.”

Then, he confirmed that Chivu’s recent praise flattered him.

“Beautiful words. Chivu is important to me.”

Furthermore, he refused to rule out the possibility of returning to San Siro in the summer.

“Everyone knows my contractual situation, with the buy-back clause. But honestly, I think it’s basic respect to focus on Club Brugge while I’m here. Inter know how I feel, and that’s why they leave me in peace.

“The funny thing is, it’s not up to me. Inter will decide.”

And it doesn’t bother him.

“I can handle it. I was born at Inter and went through the entire youth academy there. It’s normal that I’ve dreamed of Inter for years. At the same time, I feel good here and want to win as many trophies as possible. History shows that’s possible here.”
