Official | Eagle Football oust former Lyon president John Textor

Eagle Football Holdings Bidco have confirmed that John Textor has been ousted from the vehicle that owns the shares and legal rights of its multi-club ownership structure, which notably owns Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais. A legal statement published today reveals that John Charles Textor’s contract as Director has been terminated on 27 January 2026.

On this day, Textor tried to overthrow his successor –  Lyon president Michele Kang – and regain control of Eagle Football Group during the latter’s general board of directors. Textor attempted to remove two independant directors out of the board, but he failed to do so. In the aftermath, Lyon’s creditor – Ares Management – informed him of his immediate removal.

With Textor no longer in charge, Lyon are back in the green, both on and off the pitch. Their transfer restrictions have been lifted, and Paulo Fonseca’s OL are currently third in the Ligue 1 standings.
