With anticipation building ahead of a blockbuster UEFA Champions League quarter-final, Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa addressed the media with clarity, confidence, and a clear sense of purpose before facing Bayern Munich.

One of the biggest talking points heading into the clash is the return of key figures like Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.

Arbeloa acknowledged that their presence will naturally alter the team’s dynamics, especially in attack.

“It’s clear that Mbappe has different qualities to Brahim, so we’ll have to play in a different way.

“But I’m delighted to have such outstanding players at our disposal.

“Mbappe came here to play this sort of match. We’re lucky to have everyone available and not have a squad with ten or eleven players out.”

More on Mbappe

Naturally, Mbappe’s presence has elevated expectations. When asked about the threat he brings, Arbeloa highlighted just how fortunate Madrid are to have him.

“The only thing that matters to me is what I think, and it’s an extraordinary stroke of luck to have a player like Mbappe in the team.

“I put myself in the shoes of the defenders who have to face Madrid.”

He also made it clear that Mbappe fully understands the responsibility of wearing the Madrid shirt.

“Mbappe knows exactly what Real Madrid is all about; he’s always dreamed of playing here. It hasn’t been easy for him to make it here.”

Facing Bayern Munich

Looking ahead to the clash itself, Arbeloa emphasised the magnitude of the occasion and the level of performance required against a top opponent.

“A Madrid side that has always stood up to great rivals. Bayern are having an exceptional season. We know how much they’ll demand of us on the pitch.

“Our history with Bayern is always special. The Bernabéu is set for another great Champions League night.”

Arbeloa also acknowledged the tactical strength of the German side and reserved special praise for their manager, Vincent Kompany.

“They’re a very, very well-drilled side; you can quickly see their hallmarks and their patterns of play.

“They’re a very aggressive team in defence, forcing you into situations where you see all the players dropping back tremendously.

“Kompany deserves every bit of praise he gets because he’s doing a tremendous job at Bayern Munich.”

On Bellingham

On Bellingham’s influence, Arbeloa was equally direct, stressing the overall improvement he brings to the side.

“What changes is that we’re a better team; I’m convinced of that. He has different qualities from other teammates and when he’s on the pitch, we have to adapt.

“That’s what football’s all about, having those connections between players. But it’s a blessed problem to have to fit Bellingham into the team.”

Mallorca defeat

Despite recent setbacks, including the defeat to Mallorca, Arbeloa dismissed any doubts about the team’s mentality heading into the tie.

“We’re not thinking about not winning the tie. I understand you have to analyse all the scenarios, but for us there’s only one: beating Bayern.

“That’s what we want and what we believe in.”

Reflecting on the dressing room atmosphere after that loss, he added,

“It’s just like any other dressing room when you lose. Perhaps it hurts a bit more, because if there’s one club where defeat isn’t tolerated, it’s Madrid.”

Praise for Alaba

The manager also took a moment to praise David Alaba, highlighting his experience and leadership within the squad.

“It’s a huge privilege to have a player with a career like Alaba’s, not just for what he’s done at Madrid but also at Bayern and for his country. He’s had matches where he’s helped us immensely.

“All players are important, whatever their role. He embodies all the values a footballer should have.”

Finally, addressing concerns about players walking a disciplinary tightrope, Arbeloa made it clear that experience will guide his squad.

“There’s no need. They know they’re on a warning, but tomorrow’s a high-stakes match and they know that if they have to take a card for the good of the team, they’ll do it.

“But we’ve already gone through many matches with players on yellow cards,” he concluded.

Why Coen wants to have to remove Travon Walker from Jaguars' practices

Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach Liam Coen wasn't comparing Travon Walker to former Rams' defensive tackle Aaron Donald. However, like Donald, Coen wants Walker to bring a similar edge and disruptiveness to the practice field.

During Coen's two stints with the LA Rams as an offensive coach, he saw the game-wrecking ability of Donald up close and on a daily basis. In his end-of-season meeting with Walker, which lasted almost two hours, Coen told Walker that he wants to have to remove him from practice because the offense is unable to get anything accomplished with him on the field.

"I was with Aaron Donald in L.A.," Coen said at the NFL league meetings, via NFL.com, "and we literally had to take him out of practice in order for us to gain yards on offense. And so, if you want to get where you want to go and where we want you to go and where you can go, I need to be taking you out of practice so that we can operate on offense."

Walker has shown during his time with the Jaguars that he can be quite disruptive. During each of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Walker recorded 10-plus sacks and ranked in the top 25 among his position group in quarterback pressures, according to PFF.

Along with his pass rush production, Walker brings a well-rounded skill set to the Jaguars' defensive front, holding up very well against the run, while also adding versatility to this unit as well.

However, Walker says it's now time to take his game to another level.

"Obviously, he's seen Donald," Walker said. "He coached -- he was on the team with Aaron Donald. It just kind of help put things in perspective for me to be able to just click into a different type of mindset from how I was going throughout the year, and I feel like it really dawned on me that it's just time to ramp things up, take it to the next level."

To help Walker reach new heights, one of his focuses this offseason is on perfecting the small details.

Walker's new deal with the Jaguars is for four-years and is worth $110 million total. It includes $77 million in guarantees, $50 million of which is fully guaranteed at signing.

There’s only one appropriate response to the way the Red Sox have started the 2026 season

This isn’t a cop-out blog. I truly feel this way.

I could sit here and give you fancy-dancy analysis, couldn’t I? I have done that before and I will do so again. I don’t think a 2-7 Red Sox start calls for that type of article, though.

I’ve also done this crashout before. Dan Secatore, my fearless leader, has OK’d this before. I feel like I can only pull this move out every few years. Maybe to the uninitiated this type of prose is seen as juvenile, but I feel like I might be speaking for the masses here.

The only other time I’ve done so: August 2023. Not a good year for the Red Sox, perhaps, but I dunno what 2023 me was complaining about. Seems like we were on a relatively good run after the All-Star break up until one bad week. I can’t say for sure what made me snap on that day.

Maybe I was stressed leading up to my wedding day? That’s the only thing I can imagine, in hindsight, that was hindering my judgement.

Well, as a firmly married man right now, my mind is clear. I can feel comfortable with playing this card. I don’t get the chance to play it often—and the fact that I’m playing it in early April is awful for all of us—but it feels right to do so.

I’m playing the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA card.

It’s Monday Morning Brushback time, y’all.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaa.

CAN OUR NINE FIGURE PITCHER GET THROUGH FIVE INNINGS IN AN OK STATE? IS THAT ASKING TOO MUCH????? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I EVEN TRIED GETTING MY DOG TO TYPE ON THE KEYBOARD JUST NOW BUT HE WONT EVEN GIVE THIS TEAM THE TIME OF DAY. HE IS RIGHT TO DO SO. FUCK. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa.

IF A DOG DOESN’T EVEN WANNA AIR HIS FRUSTRATIONS THEN IS THIS TEAM EVEN WORTH THE TIME OF DAY JESUS CHRIST.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

REALLY ANNOYING FUCKING TEAM. FUCK. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAasdf(my beloved wife stole some blanket from me, so that typo stays in, anyways) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa

WE ARE CONSISTENTLY BRAIN DEAD WHEN IT COMES TO FUNDAMENTALS COMING OUT OF SPRING TRAINING. FUCK. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I AM NOT ONE TO CALL EVERYTHING A WRAP IN EARLY APRIL BUT JESUS CHRIST THIS TEAM IS GIVING ME ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NOTHING TO MAKE ME THINK OTHER WISE. THE STARTING PITCHING ISN’T STEPPING UP. THE BULLPEN IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. THE OFFENSE LOOKS, RELATIVELY SPEAKING, AIMLESS.

THE SEASON STARTED ALREADY, GUYS. I CAN TRY TO BE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT OUR OFFENSIVE OUTPUT (I still think we can get on base a lot) AND OUR PITCHING (please just don’t hang as many cookies with two strikes!!!! I feel like half of the damage this season has come with two strikes!!!!) AND YOU WILL BE OK. GROW THE FUCK UP, THOUGH!!!!! GROW UP!!!!!! DON’T LEAVE ALL OF YOUR SCORING TO ONE FUCKING INNING. JESUS!!!!!!!!!!! GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! BE BASEBALL PLAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!! THE SEASON STARTED!!!!!! YOU ARE A TEAM A LOT OF PEOPLE PUT STOCK IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Browns Eye 6‑Part Trade With Cowboys for 2027 Draft Boost

The Cleveland Browns are considering a six‑part trade with the Dallas Cowboys that would swap their 2025 picks 6 and 24, along with a 2027 fifth‑rounder, for the Cowboys’ 12th and 20th picks and a 2027 second‑round pick. This move would give Cleveland a significant upgrade in the 2027 draft, where they hope to find a long‑term quarterback. The trade would also give the Browns more flexibility for future roster moves.
