Brewers' Pat Murphy Trades Pancakes for Tortoise

Brewers manager Pat Murphy was caught taking a pocket pancake during a televised dugout interview, then later swapped the snack for a Sulcata tortoise named Bobby Jr. after being told no pocket pancakes were allowed.

During a game in August, Murphy was seen taking a pancake from his hoodie pocket while speaking to a dugout reporter. The clip went viral and the Brewers capitalized on the moment by selling “Murph’s Pocket Pancakes” at home games.

When the Brewers were set to play the Royals on Apple TV, Murphy was told no pocket pancakes were allowed. He instead presented a Sulcata tortoise, dubbed Bobby Jr., to the reporter. The reptile, not a turtle, was kept in the visiting clubhouse at Kauffman Stadium and will not travel with the team.
