The win gives the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead over the Flyers in their Round 2 matchup. They are 6-0 so far this postseason.

Taylor Hall knocked in the game-winner with 1:06 left in the overtime to send the everyone home happy.

Sean Walker started the rush then passed off to Hall, who took the puck to the net. He was initially stopped and taken to his knees but Jackson Blake was battling and kept the puck alive then Hall was able to get his stick on it to bang it home.

It was not the prettiest game in the world as a total of 15 penalties were called, eight for Carolina and seven for the Flyers. Each team was able to score one powerplay goal.

The Flyers got off to a quick start when they scored on the first powerplay of the game just four minutes into the opening period. Then just 39 second later, they made the score 2-0 when they scrambled in front of the net on a loose puck that eventually got by goalie Frederik Andersen.

After that goal, Andersen had a perfect game and made several key stops especially in OT when the Flyers outshot the Canes 15-8.

The Hurricanes did not look their best in this one but got on the board themselves when Nikolaj Ehlers blasted in a shot off a nice pass from Blake, who earned two assists in the game. The goal was a powerplay tally scored at about the 10 minute mark of the first period.

After a scoreless second period Brind’Amour mixed the lines up a bit and had Seth Jarvis and Jordan Martinook switch lines.

Jarvis took advantage of the switch immediately as he buried a pass from Ehlers to tie the score. After the game he said that he enjoyed playing with Staal and Ehlers and felt comfortable there.

After the game, Brind’Amour gave credit to assistant coach, Jeff Daniels for the change up. He told me “it’s time” so I made the move.

The Flyers had the advantage in overtime but again, Andersen was equal to the task until the Hall game-winner. After the game, Hall said that he knew he was not having his best game but tried extra hard to contribute in some way and was thrilled to be able to do so.

Eric Robinson had a team high six shots on goal and was second with eight hits in his 11:59 of ice time. He had a couple of open breakaways but was unable to solve Dan Vladar, who also played well.

William Carrier had a team high 12 hits. In all, both teams had a total of 48.

Next up, the Canes will travel to Philadelphia for game three on Thursday night.

Padres Offense Falters in 3‑2 Loss to Giants

The San Diego Padres were limited to three hits in a 3-2 defeat against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Right‑hander Trevor McDonald, in his season debut, gave up just one run, two hits and recorded eight strikeouts over 81 pitches. Despite a solid outing by Randy Vásquez, the Padres’ offense failed to generate runs beyond a solo homer by Jackson Merrill in the first inning.

Anthony Edwards after Game 1 win: 'I'm disappointed in myself'

Edwards finished the game with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. It was a fantastic showing for a player many expected not to be available for the start of this series. And yet, after the game, Edwards told the NBA on NBC broadcast that he was, “disappointed,” with his play. “I made so many mistakes at the end of the game,” Edwards said after Game 1. “I'm disappointed in myself. For me, 75 percent of the game for me is my mind. My mind's got to be where it needs to be and in the last minutes of the game, it wasn't. I gave up two offensive rebounds, turned the ball over. Yeah. I'll be better.”
