Dowdle Joins Steelers, Faces Backfield Split with Warren

Rico Dowdle, who logged consecutive 1,000‑yard seasons with Carolina, has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent and will compete with Jaylen Warren for the starting running back role.

Dowdle, who earned his second straight 1,000‑yard season in 2025, joined the Steelers after leaving the Panthers. He said he will focus on performing his best each day and let the coaching staff decide the final lineup.
