Falcons Ring of Honor Member Jeff Van Note Dies

The Atlanta Falcons announced on Friday that Ring of Honor member Jeff Van Note has died at age 80. The longtime center played 18 seasons with the team from 1969 to 1986.

Van Note was selected by the Falcons in the 11th round of the 1969 draft and remained with the team through the 1986 season. He was added to the franchise Ring of Honor in 2006. Although he played linebacker at Alabama, coach Norm Van Brocklin moved him to center, where he became a starter in 1970.

The two-time second-team All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl selection played in 246 games, second only to teammate Mike Kenn in franchise history. Falcons owner Arthur Blank called him "a true Falcons legend" who "embodied toughness, resilience, humility, and an unwavering commitment to his team." grenadier.co.za
