Gausman to Make Cubs Debut Against Royals Friday

The 35-year-old Gausman was added to Chicago's active roster before Wednesday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Left-hander Antoine Kelly was optioned to Triple-A Iowa to make room for the veteran pitcher.

Gausman is 5-10 with a 4.38 ERA in 23 starts this season. The durable right-hander has pitched at least 174 2/3 innings and made at least 31 starts in each of the previous five years.
