MacKinnon Becomes First NHL Player of 2024-25 to Hit 50 Goals

MacKinnon scored his 50th goal of the season in a 4‑2 win over Vancouver, becoming the first NHL player to reach the mark this year.

MacKinnon’s liner from up top beat Vancouver goaltender Kevin Lankinen early in the first period, giving Colorado a 4‑2 win and marking his 50th goal of the season. The 30‑year‑old celebrated with a knee slide and glove pump, becoming the second 50‑goal campaign of his career and the third player in Colorado/Quebec history to notch multiple 50‑goal seasons.

He now has 121 points, tying Nikita Kucherov for second in the league, and has recorded four straight seasons of 110+ points. Avalanche coach Jared Bednar praised his consistent production, noting it has met high expectations over recent seasons.
