MBTA hikes train fares for Scotland, England fans to World Cup in Boston

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has announced round-trip tickets from South Station to Foxborough will cost $80, a massive increase over the standard $17.50 price.

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has announced round-trip tickets from South Station to Boston Stadium in Foxborough will cost $80 (£60). This price point is four times higher than the standard fare, affecting fans traveling for Scotland's matches against Haiti and Morocco, as well as England's game against Ghana.

Co-founder of the Scottish Football Supporters Association, Paul Goodwin, described the hike as "totally out of order," warning it could force fans into debt. Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, though parking at the venue remains prohibitively expensive at $175 (£132).
