Murakami Impresses in White Sox Debut

Chicago White Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami overcame late arrival traffic and first-game jitters to deliver a strong Cactus League debut against the Cubs, recording two hits and two RBIs.

Munetaka Murakami was caught in a traffic accident on his way to Sloan Park but arrived just 20 minutes before first pitch to bat in the first inning. The Japanese slugger finished 2-for-4 with a single that registered a 108.3 mph exit velocity, driving in two runs in the White Sox's 8-1 victory over the Cubs.

Signed to a two-year, $34 million deal in December, Murakami aims to provide a spark for the rebuilding White Sox after they struggled significantly in recent seasons.
