NBA OKs Trail Blazers Sale to Tom Dundon Group

The NBA Board of Governors has unanimously approved the $4.25 billion sale of the Portland Trail Blazers to a group led by Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon. All proceeds will go to charity, as required by the Paul Allen Trust.

The sale, valued at $4.25 billion, was finalized by the Paul Allen Trust, which has been run by Allen’s sister Judy Allen since 2018. The transaction was approved unanimously by the NBA Board of Governors on March 30, 2026.

Dundon, who also owns the Carolina Hurricanes, will take over a team that has recently secured state approval for major upgrades to the Moda Center and is built around a mix of veterans and young stars such as Jrue Holiday, Damian Lillard, Deni Avdija, Sharron Sharpe and Scoot Henderson. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver praised Dundon’s reputation and passion for the sport.
