Boston Red Sox infielder Caleb Durbin switched from number 17 to number 5 on Opening Day, citing a long-held preference for single digits.
The 26-year-old, acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers, explained that he "has always been more of a single-digit kind of guy." He previously wore No. 21 during his rookie season with Milwaukee but sported single digits during his time at Washington University and in the minors.
