Suárez Uses ABS to Correct Back-to-Back Umpire Calls

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suárez successfully overturned two consecutive incorrect strike calls against umpire C.B. Bucknor using the new ABS challenge system during Saturday's game against Boston.

Eugenio Suárez utilized the new ABS challenge system to correct back-to-back erroneous strike three calls from home plate umpire C.B. Bucknor during Saturday's matchup against the Boston Red Sox. With a 1-2 count and two outs, Suárez challenged two pitches that were incorrectly called strikes, resulting in both calls being overturned by the automated ball-strike technology.

The Reds went on to win the game 5-3 despite Suárez eventually grounding out to shortstop. Bucknor had six of his calls overturned via ABS challenges during the game. Red Sox manager Alex Cora was ejected after arguing a check swing call that Bucknor failed to appeal to the first base umpire.
