Vrabel on Gonzalez: Players Free to Feel

After the Patriots' preseason finale loss to the Browns, coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged cornerback Christian Gonzalez's frustration with the pace of contract negotiations. Gonzalez, who is under contract for two more seasons and scheduled to make $2.259 million this year, expressed frustration earlier this week. The sides don't appear close on an extension, though the Seahawks recently signed cornerback Devon Witherspoon to a four-year, $132 million deal. Gonzalez and Witherspoon share the same agent, Reggie Johnson. The 17th overall pick in 2023, Gonzalez made second-team All-Pro in 2024 and the Pro Bowl in 2025.
