‘It is the ultimate Test,’ says Eben Etzebeth about Boks-All Blacks decider
The Springboks’ leading all-time Test centurion, Eben Etzebeth, says the fourth and final Test against the All Blacks in the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series will be as special as ever when they lock horns in the unfamiliar surroundings of the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, USA on Saturday night (kick-off 11:10pm SA time). saltysenoritaaz.com
The 145-times capped Bok lock star added Test matches against their biggest and fiercest rivals remained the “ultimate test”.
The revival of traditional tours between the two most successful rugby teams in history has been a roaring success, and the Boks take a 2-1 series lead into the decider, after recovering from losing the opener at Ellis Park.
Their back-to-back wins in Cape Town and Soweto have given the Boks plenty of momentum, but the All Blacks have been close in every contest and will be desperate to bounce back and force a series draw.
“Every Test match, when you put the green and gold jersey on, is special,” said Etzebeth in the build-up to the match.
“Every time we play the All Blacks, we know the rivalry and what it means to them as well as to us.
“This one is very special. It’s obviously the decider, whether we actually win the series or it ends up as a draw, it’s a massive Test match.
“I think it’s an amazing time we’re living in, to be able to play a Test match series against New Zealand, four in a row. I think it’s the ultimate test for a rugby player.
“It’s been tough, there have been some bruising battles, but I think that’s what we all want to do and we love every second of it.”
Two best teams
The Boks and All Blacks are clearly the two best teams in world rugby at the moment, have shared the last five World Cup titles between them stretching back to 2007, as well as the last nine Rugby Championship titles stretching back to 2016.
They are so close on the world rugby rankings that the All Blacks took top spot after beating the Boks at Ellis Park, only for the hosts to snatch it back a week later.
The Boks will be very pleased to have won two of the three Tests played in South Africa, but they are now hungry to secure an outright win, while the All Blacks will be desperate not to lose and will be going all out to level the series.
With the next RGR series to take place under the same format in New Zealand in 2030, both teams will want to finish their first traditional tour since 1996 on the best possible note, in front of a packed crowd in Baltimore.

What do live football scores show?
Live football scores show the current state of a match while it is being played. Depending on the competition and available data, match pages can include the score, match status, goals and other events, lineups or statistics.
When a game has finished, use the SportPesa results page to check completed outcomes. Keeping live scores and final results separate makes it easier to find the information you need.
Which football competitions can you follow?
Football fans in South Africa follow both local and international competitions, so a useful live-score page needs broad coverage. This includes South African football as well as major competitions such as the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League when matches are available.
Competition schedules change throughout the season. If you are looking for upcoming English top-flight matches rather than a game already in progress, see the Premier League fixtures guide.

Live scores, football results and in-play betting

Live feeds can be subject to delays, so displayed score information should be treated as a live reference rather than as the official basis for bet settlement. SportPesa’s terms explain how live feeds and official results are handled.

Former world record holder advises Kenyan athletes on how to use their riches
NAIROBI, Kenya, September 11, 2026 – Former world record holder for the women’s marathon, Tegla Loroupe, has called on Kenyan sportsperson to better the lives of their local communities by participating in noble causes.
Loroupe holds that athletes should not forget their humble backgrounds even as they enjoy success on the international front.
“For sure, I think something they can learn from me is that I come from a humble background. I believe also even the current athletes, nobody comes from a rich family, they come from a humble background. This is something they should never forget,” the two-time New York Marathon champion said.
The 53-year-old rose from the dusty plains of the war-torn West Pokot to become one of the most distinguished female runners to ever emerge from Kenya.
Loroupe clocked 2:20:47 to set a new world record at the Rotterdam Marathon in April 1998, lowering it by four seconds, a year later at Berlin Marathon.
In addition to winning two New York Marathon titles, she also boast three Rotterdam Marathon crowns, and three world half marathon wins.
With the experience of the harsh conditions of growing up in a poverty-stricken area afflicted by conflict, Loroupe has channeled her success to the grassroots, becoming a voice of the voiceless, including girls from marginalised communities as well as refugees.
Through the Tecla Loroupe Peace Foundation, the former marathoner established annual Peace Run in Kapenguria to bring warring tribes together to lay down their arms in exchange for exploring their sports talents.
Reflecting on her struggles to scale up the athletics ladder, Loroupe says her eventual success should inspire many others faced with similar predicaments in their lives.
She also acknowledges that the situation has somewhat improved as cultural bottlenecks that had previously frowned upon sportswomen has thawed over the years.
“Nowadays, they have everything but during our time, we had a lot of luggage coming from the family. You didn’t have equipment or even money to take you to competitions but we did not lose hope. We had to fight…while you are still alive, you have to fight,” Loroupe said.
Other than running to put food on the table, Loroupe believes it should be a Kenyan culture adopted to fight lifestyle diseases.
The Covid-19 pandemic, Loroupe mentions, was a prime opportunity to ingrain a running culture among Kenyans.
“Look at the Covid-19 period, many people embraced running because they were tired of staying in the house. I wish we could have continued as a country with the same practice even after the pandemic ended,” she said.
Her passion for charitable causes were recently on show at the Strathmore Annual Run in Nairobi where she ran in the 2.5km race.
Loroupe admitted she didn’t think for a second when she was offered the opportunity to come on board the initiative, which seeks to raise funds for scholarship for needy students at the institution.
“I want to say something that motivated me is the VC (vice chancellor) who stood for charity to support the underprivileged students and therefore, that’s something that’s in my heart. When I see somebody who has the heart of supporting and is using this energy also to bring other people, that motivates me a lot. I may not give much but I am happy to contribute,” she said.
