Le hasard a tranché. Entre le Parc des Princes et le Stade Bollaert, c’est finalement l’enceinte lensoise qui accueillera le Trophée des Champions 2026/27 entre le Paris Saint-Germain et le RC Lens.

Le tirage au sort s’est tenu ce mercredi 3 juin, comme annoncé la veille par la Ligue de football professionnel (LFP). Organisé au siège de l’instance, en présence des représentants des deux clubs, il a désigné le RC Lens comme club hôte de cette affiche d’ouverture de la saison 2026/2027.

Un choix qui offre aux Sang et Or le privilège de recevoir le PSG pour lancer officiellement la nouvelle saison du football français. La rencontre se disputera ainsi le 16 août 2026 à 18h45 GMT, dans une ambiance qui s’annonce électrique. amunra.qpon

D’un côté, le RC Lens, vainqueur de la Coupe de France. De l’autre, le Paris Saint-Germain, champion de la Ligue 1. Une affiche de prestige qui opposera deux des équipes les plus en vue du football français.

Ce Trophée des Champions marquera donc le premier grand rendez-vous de la saison, avec un duel qui promet intensité, spectacle et déjà un parfum de rivalité entre deux grands clubs du championnat.

How was a South African tighthead prop not chosen as the No 3 in the United Rugby Championship 2025/26 season Elite XV? When you think of South African rugby’s biggest strength, it is with those wearing Nos 1 and Nos 3.

An Irishman, in Leinster’s Thomas Clarkson got the nod at No 3.

Madness.

Clarkson started eight of 11 matches in the URC and averaged 49 minutes a match. Leinster lost four of those 11 matches.

South African props

Not when you look at the prop options from within South Africa’s URC quartet of the Bulls, Lions, Sharks and Stormers.

Wilco Louw is the obvious standout for the Bulls.

Louw started 10 of 11 URC matches this season.

Then there is Neethling Fouche for the Stormers and Vincent Koch (12 matches) of the Sharks.

Fouche started 12 of 14 matches in the URC this season.

The Lions’ Asenathi Ntlabakanye was superb this season, but missed the last few matches after being suspended for taking weight loss medication approved by a doctor, but on the prohibited list for rugby players.

Ntlabakanye started 13 of 14 URC matches.

The Bulls, Stormers and Sharks scrum were comfortably the best three scrums in the competition this season.

Of the South African tightheads playing for overseas clubs, Thomas du Toit (Bath) and Carlü Sadie (Bordeaux) have been immense.

Sadie started in all eight of Bordeaux’s Investec Champions Cup matches. He is part of Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus’s national alignment camp.

Du Toit, who leaves Bath for South Africa’s Sharks, took three category wins at the club’s end of season awards.

Du Toit’s value to Bath and the Boks is his quality as a tighthead prop and loosehead prop.

South Africa’s loosehead prop stocks are as impressive with Sharks’ Ox Nche, Bulls’ Gerhardt Steenekamp and Stormers Ntuthuko Mchunu the leading trio in the country.

Former Orlando Pirates Thulasizwe Mbuyane is convinced that the Buccaneers’ head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is being approached by North African teams.

The 47-year-old coach won a treble with Pirates in his first season but has not committed his future at the club.

When asked if he would continue next season with the Soweto giants, Ouaddou said he would need to reflect, citing fatigue as the reason he needs a break.

Speaking to KickOff, Mbuyane felt offers were made for the Moroccan coach following his successful season with the Sea Robbers.

“Personally, I feel Ouaddou has got an issue somewhere,” the former Pirates star said.

“There might be a job for him somewhere [that] he thinks will suit him better.

“It was the same when Jose Riveiro left Pirates. After winning everything and building his CV, he decided to go work elsewhere, and it didn’t work out the way he had planned.

“The same thing is happening now with Ouaddou; he’s being courted somewhere in North Africa.”

Mbuyane suspects Ouaddou might ditch Pirates for North Africa

The ex-striker rubbished Ouaddou’s comments, where he made it clear that money was not an issue at Pirates.

“I feel his name is being discussed somewhere. What kind of coach makes comments like, ‘the difference between me and other coaches is I don’t need money?'” Mbuyane asked.

With Pirates having won the league, they will now compete for five trophies next season. It looks likely that they will have to defend their three trophies under a new coach.

Will Ouaddou leave for North Africa?

Selon le staff médical argentin, il ne s’agit pas d’une blessure musculaire mais d’une légère lésion osseuse qui nécessite une attention particulière.

Un programme spécifique pour récupérer

Depuis la fin du championnat italien, le joueur de 21 ans suit un programme de récupération adapté au centre d’entraînement d’Ezeiza. Exercices individuels, séances de kinésithérapie et travail physique sans contact rythment son quotidien afin d’éviter toute aggravation de la blessure.

Sur recommandation du staff technique de Lionel Scaloni, Nico Paz n’a d’ailleurs pas disputé les deux dernières rencontres de Serie A contre Parme et Cremonese. Malgré cette situation délicate, le jeune gaucher reste optimiste quant à sa participation au Mondial 2026.

« Je suis dans les derniers jours de ma convalescence. J’ai vraiment hâte de commencer », a-t-il écrit ce mercredi sur son statut Instagram, un message rassurant pour les supporters argentins.

Emiliano Buendía en attente

Même si l’espoir demeure au sein du staff albiceleste, des solutions alternatives sont déjà envisagées en cas de forfait de Nico Paz. Emiliano Buendía apparaît comme le principal candidat pour intégrer la liste définitive.

D’autres joueurs restent également en alerte, notamment Matías Soulé, Máximo Perrone, Marcos Senesi, Nicolás Domínguez et Franco Mastantuono. Pour les postes de latéraux droits, Nico Capaldo et Agustín Giay se tiennent aussi prêts aux États-Unis.
