Darcy Kuemper‘s night ended early on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Kings‘ goaltender was pulled against the Edmonton Oilers after allowing four goals on 15 shots.
Kuemper was removed from the contest with 13:11 remaining in the second period during a stoppage and immediately went to the locker room. He was relieved by backup tender Anton Forsberg.
The exit came a few minutes after Oilers captain Connor McDavid pulled him out of his net for a highlight-reel goal to extend Edmonton’s lead to 4-1. Zach Hyman later scored on Forsberg to make it 5-1.
Kuemper had a 2.59 GAA and a .900 save percentage in 36 games entering Thursday’s contest.
Kings forward Joel Armia also left the contest. He was ruled out after suffering an upper-body injury, per the Kings PR.
