Did Jalen Hurts make Donovan McNabb's 'Mount Rushmore' of Eagles QBs?

The Eagles have a solid history at the quarterback position with some legendary names that played under center. While Philadelphia has no regular-season Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Players, Jalen Hurts has been an MVP runner-up and Super Bowl MVP.

Donovan McNabb recently sat down with Sports Illustrated and named his Mount Rushmore of Philadelphia quarterbacks. Hurts made the list, but seeing how McNabb struggled at the end, the former Syracuse star was close to naming Michael Vick at No. 4 before the Eagles' current star.

1. Donovan McNabb

Drafted No. 2 overall in 1999, no quarterback in the history of the Eagles has more wins, more passing yards, and more touchdown passes. McNabb finished his 11-year Eagles career with a 92-49-1 record while leading the Eagles to five NFC East titles, five NFC championship games, and one Super Bowl appearance. He also has the most playoff wins in Eagles history, at nine. McNabb led Philadelphia to eight winning seasons. In all, McNabb finished his tenure as the franchise's all-time leader in yards (32,873) and touchdowns (216) while completing 59.5 percent of his passes.

2. Randall Cunningham

Cunningham finished his Eagles career with 27,359 yards (passing and rushing) and 182 total touchdowns. He ran for 32 touchdowns, and he still holds the franchise record for rushing yards by a quarterback (4,482). Cunningham finished as a first-team All-Pro in 1988 and 1990, and was the 1990 PFWA NFL MVP and UPI Offensive Player of the Year. After missing the 1991 season with a torn ACL, Cunningham was the 1992 NFL Comeback Player of the Year, throwing for 2,775 yards and 19 touchdowns and running for 549 yards and five touchdowns.

3. Ron Jaworski

Before McNabb, Jaworski held virtually every passing record in the books, finishing his Eagles career with 26,963 yards and 175 touchdowns. Jaworski led the Eagles to a .500 or better record in five of those seasons while starting 116 consecutive games, a record at the time for quarterbacks. Before Jaworski arrived, the Eagles had 15 consecutive losing seasons. Jaworski's most impressive season came in 1980, when he led the Eagles to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance. Philadelphia went 12-4 that season, with Jaworski passing for 3,529 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

4. Jalen Hurts

Hurts is now a three-time Pro Bowl selection, tying him for the second-most appearances by a quarterback in Eagles history. The selection ties Randall Cunningham, Norm Van Brocklin, and Bobby Thomason for the second-most appearances by a quarterback in franchise history. Hurts has a ways to go in order to become the franchise's all-time leader. Donovan McNabb leads all Philadelphia quarterbacks with six Pro Bowl selections. In 2025, Hurts was 294-454 passing (64.8%), throwing for 3,224 yards and a 25:6 TD: INT ratio to go with 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in 16 regular-season games. Hurts ranked 6th in the NFL in total touchdowns (33), behind Matthew Stafford (46), Josh Allen (39), Trevor Lawrence (38), Drake Maye (35), and Jared Goff (34). Hurts joined an elite company this season, becoming one of only five quarterbacks since 2000 to post 30 or more total touchdowns in four straight seasons, joining Drew Brees (2008-16), Allen (2020-25), Aaron Rodgers (2008-12), and Russell Wilson (2017-20).

In all, Hurts is No. 4 all-time in Eagles passing yards with 17, 891, sixth in passing touchdowns with 110, and he'll pass Carson Wentz (113) for No. 4 on the list in 2026.
