Starling Marte has found a new home.
The former Mets outfielder has reached an agreement with the Royals, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
Reports began surfacing on Friday night that the two sides were deep in talks; now Marte officially lands in Kansas City after spending the last four years in the Big Apple.
There was mutual interest in bringing Marte back to Queens earlier this offseason, but the Mets front office ultimately decided to go in a different direction.
The 37-year-old was a solid veteran presence for New York when healthy, but injuries kept him from breaking the 100-game mark in each of the past three seasons.
Marte was also limited to more of a DH role last year, playing the field just 12 times.
He did still enjoy a strong campaign with the bat -- popping nine homers and 14 doubles to go along with a .335 OBP.
In his four seasons in Flushing, Marte launched 37 homers, drove in 165 RBI and slashed .272/.329/.405 with an OPS of .734. He also made the 2022 All-Star Game in his first season with the Mets, his best in New York. That season, Marte slashed .292/.347/.468 with a .814 OPS to go along with 16 homers and 63 RBI across 118 games.
