The Las Vegas Raiders are leaving the NFL scouting combine after checking out all the hottest NFL prospects. Now the Raiders come back to get ready for free agency, but first had to finish creating the coaching staff.
On Sunday night, the Raiders announced their full coaching staff. It was filled with names that were announced earlier in the offseason. However, one area that was missing was the hiring of a quarterback coach. It seems that there will be a united effort from Klint Kubiak, Mike McCoy, and Andrew Janocko to help develop the quarterback position.
It is an interesting move by the Raiders, but all three coaches previously mentioned have worked as QB coaches before. Kubiak must have felt comfortable with not designating a particular coach for the position. Since the former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator will be calling plays, Janocko is seen as the Raiders’ offensive coordinator, but could play both roles.
This won’t be a big deal unless the projected number one pick, Fernando Mendoza, doesn’t develop. With the coaching staff’s experience, it should work, and the group will come together to help the young quarterback acclimate to the NFL.
