Alex Palou Dominates St. Pete Season Opener

Defending IndyCar champion Alex Palou opened the 2026 season with a commanding victory at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix.

Palou, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, led the final 20 laps to cross the finish line with a nearly 13-second lead. Kyle Kirkwood finished second, with Scott McLaughlin and Christian Lundgaard rounding out the podium.

Team owner Chip Ganassi noted the team's efforts to maintain a competitive edge against rivals. The race featured early chaos, including a multi-car crash involving Sting Ray Robb, Santino Ferrucci, and Mick Schumacher on the opening lap, as well as a DNF for Will Power.
