Chiefs Plan to Release Jawaan Taylor Before League Year

The Kansas City Chiefs intend to release starting offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor before the new league year begins to create salary cap space.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team informed Taylor, 28, that he would be cut unless a trade partner is found. Taylor has started 111 games over seven seasons but remains durable. Releasing him will save the franchise approximately $20 million against the cap.
