Cubs Win as Cabrera Shines, Swanson Homers

Edward Cabrera made a strong debut for the Cubs, striking out three in two scoreless innings while Dansby Swanson homered and drove in three runs in an 8-6 victory over the Guardians.

Edward Cabrera impressed in his first outing with the Cubs, retiring all six Guardians batters he faced with three strikeouts. The bullpen performed well, with Ryan Rolison, Daniel Palencia, Collin Snider, and Jacob Webb combining for scoreless innings in relief.

Swanson's two-run homer in the first inning and RBI single in the sixth gave the Cubs an early lead. After Porter Hodge allowed five runs in the seventh, the Cubs responded with four runs in the eighth, highlighted by Leonel Espinoza's bases-clearing double.
