Kamaru Usman targets Islam Makhachev, Chimaev rematch

Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman plans to reclaim his title against Islam Makhachev before seeking a rematch with middleweight titleholder Khamzat Chimaev.

Usman lost a majority decision to Chimaev on short notice at UFC 294 but rebounded with a win over Joaquin Buckley. The Nigerian fighter stated he wants to challenge Makhachev first, as he believes he poses the most difficult style for the lightweight champion. If successful, Usman intends to prepare for a full camp against Chimaev, aiming to end his career by 2026 with two titles.
