Fitzgerald Proposes College Football Calendar Changes

Michigan State football head coach Pat Fitzgerald detailed his vision for reforming the college football calendar during a recent podcast appearance.

During an interview with ESPN analyst David Pollack, Fitzgerald proposed several significant changes to the college football calendar. His suggestions include moving up the start of the season, relocating the national championship game to January 1st, eliminating conference championship games, and scheduling bowl games one week after the regular season concludes.

Fitzgerald also advocated for implementing home playoff games similar to the NFL, FCS, and D2 models. The new Michigan State head coach emphasized the need for comprehensive calendar reform during his discussion with Pollack, though he did not specify potential implementation timelines for these proposed changes.
