Louisiana Rejects One-Time Transfer Rule

Louisiana's LHSAA convention voted down a one-time transfer rule proposal by an 82% margin, with principals concerned about the impact on smaller schools.

At the LHSAA convention in New Orleans, 287 principals and administrators opposed the measure while only 59 voted in favor. Barbe principal Troy Fontenot expressed opposition, stating he couldn't support something that would harm smaller schools.

The decision comes as other Southeastern states like Florida and South Carolina also grapple with transfer eligibility issues, with some considering significant changes to their high school sports governance.
