Colts Place Transition Tag on Jones

The Indianapolis Colts have placed the $37.833M transition tag on quarterback Daniel Jones, who had a career revival during the 2025 season. The tag is over $6M cheaper than the quarterback franchise tag, but gives Jones the opportunity to sign an offer sheet with other teams that Indianapolis would then have the right to match.

Jones started 13 games for the Colts in 2025, passing for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns before a season-ending injury. He recorded a career-best 68% completion percentage and added 164 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, showing the dual-threat ability that made him valuable to the team.
